Rockhampton Leagues Club Reveals Ambitious Plans for ‘Club Parkhurst’ Redevelopment

Exciting new community hub to enhance Parkhurst’s growing urban landscape

Rockhampton Leagues Club (RLC) is proud to announce the commencement of an exciting new chapter in its ongoing commitment to the community with the redevelopment of the former Kortes Resort function facilities, set to be rebranded as ‘Club Parkhurst’. As the region’s northern suburbs continue to experience rapid growth, this new community-focused venue will become a cornerstone of Parkhurst’s vibrant future.

The redevelopment, which is now in its early construction phase being delivered by local company Paynters, promises to deliver a modern, welcoming space for the expanding local population.

A Community-Centered Vision

Club Parkhurst will feature a range of facilities designed to serve local families, businesses, and visitors. The redevelopment plans call for the extension of the existing building by approximately 600 sqm, increasing the venue’s capacity to host up to 600 guests. A spacious reception area, cafe, and outdoor seating areas will be central to the club’s design, offering a family-friendly atmosphere with a dedicated, state of the art kids’ play area and a beautiful courtyard.

The venue will include a large dining space (both restaurant and cafe), lively sports bar, and a designated gaming area, ensuring that there’s something for everyone. The focus will be on providing a community-centric environment where people can connect, relax, and enjoy themselves.

“We identified a significant gap in community spaces within the Parkhurst area,” said Danny Finch, General Manager of Rockhampton Leagues Club. “This area is growing rapidly, and there’s a clear need for a facility that supports the local community, with a focus on local clubs, schools, and organisations. Club Parkhurst will be a place for families, businesses, and individuals to come together, raise funds, and strengthen the bonds that make this region unique.”

A New Landmark for Parkhurst

Design + Architecture and Paynters have been appointed to oversee the transformation of the venue, with a modern façade along Yaamba Road set to enhance the visual appeal of the property. The redevelopment will position Club Parkhurst as a new landmark for the area, offering both locals and visitors a welcoming and visually striking destination.

Creating Local Jobs and Supporting the Economy
The redevelopment will not only benefit the local community by providing a new venue for recreation and social gatherings but will also create new employment opportunities. An estimated 60 new jobs will be generated through the project, with roles in hospitality, and ongoing operations. The expansion of the facility will also drive demand for local suppliers, further boosting the regional economy.

“The construction phase is employing numerous local tradespeople, and once operational, Club Parkhurst will support a range of new jobs, providing long-term opportunities for the local workforce,” Finch added. “This project is built for the community, and we’re committed to ensuring its success not just for our members, but for everyone in the region.”

Moving Forward with Excitement

The Rockhampton Leagues Club is excited about the future of Club Parkhurst and construction has commenced in earnest with the club expected to be fully operational by Christmas.

“We’re excited to get started and bring this vision to life for the people of Parkhurst and beyond,” said Scott Moss, Deputy Chair of the Rockhampton Leagues Club board. “Club Parkhurst will be more than just a place to eat, drink, and relax—it will be a place to build connections, support our local community, and create lasting memories.”
